The UrbanTrapeze® products are compact, lightweight, reusable and aesthetically pleasing. All models are made from anodized aluminum which protects against corrosion or chrome plated brass & steel.

UT 1.5 is compatible with 1/16” (1.5mm) uncoated steel cable. For use with a static load that has a relatively constant position and magnitude over time, the safe working load is 80 pounds (36.3kg). For use with a dynamic load where the force may change over time – think of wind gusts – the safe working load is 48 pounds (21.7kg). Item# 63-10015

UT 3.0 is compatible with 1/8” (3mm) uncoated steel cable. For use with a static load, the safe working load is 300 pounds (136.3 kg). For use with a dynamic load the safe working load is 170 pounds (77.1kg). Item# 63-10030

Gated J Hook requires 1/16” (1.5mm) uncoated steel cable. Hook closes with spring-loaded gate. A fast and easy way to attach a hook to the end of steel cable. Cable enters thru push button top and exits out the side. Safe working load is 35 pounds dynamic or static. Item# 63-10001

Heavy Duty Hanging Panel Hardware is compatible with 1/16” (1.5mm) uncoated galvanized steel cable. Connects to 0.375-inch-thick sign material with a 0.28-inch diameter pre-punched hole for included screw and nut. Safe working load is 35-pounds static or dynamic. Item# 63-10002

UrbanTrapeze® Drop Ceiling Sign Hanging Cable Kit works with included 1/16” (1.5mm) uncoated steel cable, In-Line Sign Panel Connector and Twist-On Drop Ceiling Connector with integrated UrbanTrapeze cable lock to create a system for hanging sign panels from drop ceilings. Safe working load is up to 30 lbs. Item #63-20100

The recommended cable configuration for use with the UrbanTrapeze® is 7 x 7 galvanized, uncoated steel cable. The use of powder or vinyl coated cable are not advised as the safe working load will be greatly reduced.

A WORD ABOUT STEEL CABLE SAFE WORKING LOADS

As you determine the safe working load of steel cable for your project, consider factors including end-use of the product, environment, type of load being applied to the cable and the wire cable minimum break strength.

Wire rope should never be used at its rated Minimum Breaking Strength. A safety factor must be applied before installation, based on several factors including whether the installed product has a static or a dynamic load. The safety factor for either model of the UrbanTrapeze is 7:1 for a static load and 10:1 for a dynamic load.

Steel cable is available in 1/16 inch (1.5mm) or 1/8 inch (3mm) diameters in 100, 250, 500 and 1000 ft. spools.

Do you have cable loopers or cable hangers in stock? I've heard there is a shortage in the US right now.

Is it possible to use a thinner gauge wire cable with the UrbanTrapeze® 3.0? Specifically, is 1/16 in. uncoated galvanized aircraft cable compatible with the UrbanTrapeze 3.0?

It is always possible to insert a thinner gauge cable into the UrbanTrapeze® 3.0. BUT, it was designed to work with 1/8” (3.0mm) uncoated galvanized steel cable. There are no long-term studies the confirm the performance reliability of mixing these two items. We DO NOT recommend using a thinner gauge wire in this instance.
